Here's a simple fact: Amazon, Google, and Cloudflare — companies with billions in infrastructure — all publish 99.99% SLAs, not 100%. Why? Because 100% is physically impossible in any real network. Routers fail. BGP peers hiccup. Power units have maintenance windows. Any provider claiming 100% is either lying, or has never read what an SLA legally means.

Let's do the math that some providers hope you won't:

A standard 1Gbps port never saturates for Lavalink. What actually causes audio problems is jitter — tiny inconsistencies in packet timing. A 10Gbps port with bad routing still produces choppy audio. "Some providers" charge significantly more just because they put "AMD Ryzen 9" or "Intel Xeon" on their pricing page. Sounds premium. The chip brand has nothing to do with how much of it you actually get.

What actually determines your performance is CPU priority allocation — the guaranteed percentage of processing power reserved for your node. A Ryzen 9 host with high overcommit will perform worse than a host that guarantees you 250% CPU priority explicitly.

This one is technically creative. "Automatic failover across 4 regions" sounds amazing until you understand how Lavalink actually works: failover is handled entirely by your bot's code, not the server. When a node goes down, your bot (via Shoukaku, Wavelink, Lavalink4J, etc.) detects it and switches to a backup — only if you configured that backup. The host has zero involvement in that process.

So "4 regions with automatic failover" from a hosting provider actually means: "we have servers in 4 locations, and if you write the failover code yourself, you can use them." That's true of literally any multi-region hosting setup. For most bots, one stable well-provisioned node is more reliable than four regions with no maintenance history.
